The holistic grooming salon for dogs & cats
Are you a new client?
Feel free to contact us via the form below or schedule an introductory session through our online calendar. During this appointment, we will discuss the specific coat and/or dental care your pet requires, as well as their temperament.
If your dog or cat is already accustomed to grooming salons and shows no signs of anxiety or uncertainty, we will schedule a full grooming session after the introduction. If this is their first visit, the introductory session will be followed by our welcome package.
For pets that are nervous or fearful, we offer the opportunity to adjust and train through behavior therapy within the grooming salon. The best option for your pet will be discussed during the introductory session.

WELCOME!
If you have a puppy, kitten, or an adult pet that has never been to a grooming salon before and isn’t anxious, we start with the welcome package after the introductory session. This allows your pet to gradually get used to all necessary grooming procedures.
Our welcome package includes 3 sessions of 30 minutes, during which your pet, regardless of age, will be introduced step by step to our groomer and the grooming process. After completing the welcome package, your pet will be ready for the “full grooming session”—a complete and thorough grooming treatment.
Behavioural Therapy in the Grooming Salon
A fair chance for all fearful and reactive pets.
We offer the “Fear in the Grooming Salon” package for dogs or cats that are anxious or have had a negative experience at another grooming salon. As the owner, you are welcome to join the training and subsequent grooming sessions, provided it benefits your pet’s well-being.
At Huisdierverhalen, we actively address behavioral issues such as fear and aggression towards the groomer. In an average of 7 sessions, each lasting 30 minutes, we work on building trust between your pet and our groomer. Gradually, we introduce the necessary grooming procedures.
As behaviorist groomers, we take into account your pet’s individual needs, regardless of their past experiences. Almost all dogs and cats can be groomed without panic or sedation.
With patience, rewards, and training, pets regain trust in both the groomer and the grooming process.
After completing the “Fear in the Grooming Salon” package, a full grooming session will follow.
ADDITIONAL CARE
With every full grooming session, we trim the nails to keep them at a comfortable length. We also check and clean the ears if necessary. While we do not express the anal glands in our salon, we can provide additional information to ensure they function properly.

DENTAL CLEANING WITHOUT ANESTHETICS
FOR DOGS AND CATS
Discover the incredible benefits of our ultrasonic toothbrush and scaler, designed to make dirty dog teeth clean again!
Our dental cleaning process is noise- and motion-free, making it ideal for pets that find toothbrushing uncomfortable. These ultrasonic devices generate 96 million vibrations per minute! Since the frequency is so high, neither humans nor pets can detect it. Combined with water and special toothpaste, we effectively remove food debris, plaque, tartar, and bacteria.
Avoid dental cleanings under anesthesia and schedule an introductory appointment for your dog online!
Is brushing your dog’s teeth necessary?
Absolutely, if you want to keep your dog’s teeth healthy.
Very few owners brush their pet’s teeth consistently, which can lead to tartar, inflammation, loose teeth, and pain. Tartar develops from plaque, a combination of food particles, bacteria, and mucus. This can damage tooth enamel and cause gum inflammation, cavities, and loose teeth. As inflamed gums tend to bleed easily, bacteria can quickly enter the bloodstream, leading to inflammation in other parts of the body, such as the joints, kidneys, and even the heart and its valves.
Who performs the dog dental cleanings?
Merel van der Mullen, a certified veterinary technician with experience in dental cleanings at a veterinary dental clinic.
During the introductory session, your dog’s mouth and teeth will be thoroughly examined. If there are any signs of inflammation or loose teeth, you’ll be referred to a veterinarian, as we only clean healthy but dirty teeth. The duration of the cleaning varies between 30-90 minutes, depending on the condition of the teeth.
Regular maintenance is crucial after cleaning, which is why we recommend dental cleanings every 8-12 weeks.
